A Driving Force for SSAFA is a biennial charity event, raising funds for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.  It involves one hundred people, in fifty vehicles, including participants and support vehicles, on an exhilarating driving adventure across Europe.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity offers practical welfare, health, emotional and financial support services, for the UK military’s serving personnel and veterans of the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force, and their families.

Two ex-serving members of HM Forces Benn Laidler MBE and Steve Shaw MA, FCILT, CMCIPD witnessed first-hand the hardship and devastation suffered by casualties of military conflict. They realised that the lack of resources available to support these courageous men, women, and their families to cope with the aftermath of such traumatic life changing injuries or loss, needed to be addressed.

In 2012, The Rally for Heroes was conceived to do something about it. These legendary charity driving events took place across the UK and mainland Europe raising over three quarters of a million pounds for many charities supporting military personnel during its ten years.

The exciting news is that Rally for Heroes evolved in 2022 into A Driving Force for SSAFA delivered through Torque Events and powered by Company X Consulting Ltd. Torque Events created by Benn and Steve, arrange the ultimate luxury, fully escorted, driving events and tours across the UK, Europe and beyond, ensuring unforgettable experiences of the best roads, destinations, and hotels.

The first A Driving Force for SSAFA event will take place from 30 July to 9 August 2024, and we are sure it is going to be amazing and raise much-needed funds for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
