A Driving Force for SSAFA 2026 involves 60 teams raising funds across 2026, hoping to raise £100,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. ADF26 will see 60 participant cars and support vehicles, experiencing an exhilarating 11-day driving adventure across 10 countries from 1-11 August 2026. This epic adventure will begin in Dunkirk with a short memorial service for those military personnel that have given the ultimate sacrifice with a route to Bosnia and back. Started by two ex-serving members of HM Forces Benn Laidler MBE and Steve Shaw MA, FCILT, CMCIPD, Directors of A Driving Force, witnessed first-hand the hardship and devastation suffered by casualties of military conflict. They have already raised over £800,000 for many charities supporting military personnel. For 2026, this enormously successful campaign has set its sights on reaching a cumulative £1,000,000 target of fundraising and 1,000,000 miles of travel!
As part of their fundraising, ADF26 participants Alex and Harriet Wolfe, from London are organising what promises to be a fantastic event entitled The Greatest Car Manufacturer Debate on Thursday 26 March 2026 from 7-11pm at the wonderful London Scottish House (near Victoria Station) in London. The night begins with welcome drinks and dinner inside the breathtaking Super Car Cave at London Scottish House, surrounded by extraordinary machines from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, Ford, and McLaren, courtesy of private owners and supporting companies. The venue itself is steeped in history: once the drill hall of the London Scottish Regiment, founded in 1859, and the first volunteer force to see action in the First World War at the Battle of Messines in 1914.

This special evening brings together some of the UK’s most passionate automotive personalities: manufacturers, dealers, racing drivers, YouTubers, and more. The evening’s centrepiece is The Greatest Car Company debate, kicking off with a confirmed classic duel: Ferrari vs Ford.
Debating that Ferrari is the best is James Martin of JayEmm on Cars, whose YouTube channel has reached 173 million viewers and whose personal passion includes investing in his three dream Ferraris.Flying the Ford flag is legendary motoring journalist Jeremy Walton, author of Fast Ford, whose career spans driving icons such as Jim Clark’s Cortina, the Gulf GT40 from Le Mans, Timo Mäkinen’s rally Escorts, and even Princess Diana’s record-breaking £750,000 Escort.
Representing McLaren, we have John Thorne, Founder of Thorney Motorsport, the world’s largest independent McLaren specialist. John has become a leading authority on McLaren ownership, helping thousands of enthusiasts keep their cars reliable, enjoyable, and on the road. Singing from the rooftops for Lamborghini, we have Iain Tyrrell, Founder of Iain Tyrrell Classic Cars and one of the world’s leading classic car experts. Iain is renowned for discovering and authenticating the iconic Lamborghini Miura from the 1969 film The Italian Job and currently serves as Technical Officer for Lamborghini Club UK.
Further speakers representing Aston Martin and Porsche will be announced very soon, making this a true line up of automotive greats.

Alongside the debate, we are reintroducing the chance to pay for votes to help your chosen manufacturer claim the crown, with every penny raised supporting SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. We will also hear from Air Marshal Steve Shell CB OBE MA who is CEO of SSAFA.
The night will feature an exciting charity auction, offering incredible prizes including supercar lunch experiences, a Caterham motorsport drift experience donated by HWM Aston Martin & Caterham Dealer (Car Dealer | Walton-on-Thames, Surrey | HWM), a luxury travel day for seven, donated by Expedition Yorkshire (Yorkshire Tours | Tours of Yorkshire England), visiting filming locations from the 2026 Wuthering Heights movie starring Margot Robbie – an incredible day’s stalking in Scotland, a pair of Chanel sunglasses, yacht days, parachute jumps, and much more. There will also be an iconic supercar cave display, a delicious food station dinner between cars, debate and the auction, drinks, and most importantly, we will be raising funds for our SSAFA Veterans.
Alex Wolfe explains why he and his wife Harriet are organising this fantastic event:
“Harriet and I fundamentally want to support our veterans and their families. SSAFA does this all year round, therefore we want to put on an evening where everyone enjoys a night of fun, but we can also raise a huge amount for the charity, helping them to continue their great work.”
Join us for an unforgettable celebration of automotive greatness, all in support of a remarkable cause. On 26 March we can EAT- DRINK – DEBATE CARS!
